Josh Dean, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Hertford and Stortford, kicked off his campaign in Bishop’s Stortford at the weekend by meeting voters in Thorley Manor ward on Saturday 9th March.
After joining Tidy Up Bishop’s Stortford’s bi-monthly litter pick that morning with Labour’s District Councillor for Thorley Manor, Dave Willcocks, Josh was supported in the afternoon by Councillors Oliver Diffey (South Ward, Bishop’s Stortford Town Council) and David Jacobs (Central Ward, Bishop’s Stortford Town Council and East Herts District Council) as well as a number of other Labour supporters.
Speaking as his campaign gets underway, Josh said:
“The message on the doorstep at the weekend was clear: our residents feel let down by an absentee Conservative MP and they’re worried about the cost of living crisis which last week’s budget has done nothing to address. We didn’t meet a single resident prepared to vote for the Conservatives at the coming General Election. Speaking to residents, they recognise that ours is a Labour Party totally focussed on tackling the issues that matter to them and, as the opinion polls suggest, that we are the only real alternative to the Conservatives in Hertford and Stortford. I look forward to speaking to many more residents, businesses, charities and voluntary organisations in the coming weeks.”
Josh grew up, went to school and has worked in Hertford, and is already an elected representative on Hertford Town Council, but he and his team will be campaigning in all of the towns and villages in the constituency in the coming weeks. He will be back in Bishop’s Stortford soon to hear from local businesses.
