Hertford and Stortford Constituency Labour Party have announced the candidates they have selected in Hertford for the local elections being held on Thursday 6th May. Elections will be held to Hertfordshire County Council and will include a by-election in Bengeo ward for a seat on Hertford Town Council.
Rob Pinkham has been selected as Labour’s candidate in Hertford, All Saints division (which is made up of Bengeo and Kingsmead wards). Rob currently represents the Labour Party on Hertford Town Council. He has lived in Hertford for 35 years, has served as a magistrate for 29 years and has previously worked in local government, housing and social care.
Rob said, “There are real challenges facing us in Hertford - the Covid recovery, the climate crisis, public health crisis and transport. What we need is change and we need committed, competent Labour Councillors to deliver it.”
Josh Dean has been selected as Labour’s candidate in Hertford, St Andrews division (which is made up of Castle and Sele wards). Josh is the Chair of Hertford and Stortford Labour Party, he has previously campaigned on local issues like the Bircherley Green redevelopment and at age 17 he co-founded the non-profit Teen Voice UK.
“I was born in Hertford, I went to school here and I’ve worked in the town centre - right in the heart of our community. I know the issues facing people in Hertford and I’m proud to have been selected to stand in the town I grew up in. Together, we can, and we will, rebuild our community after the pandemic.” Josh said.
Veronica Fraser has been selected as Labour’s candidate for the by-election to Hertford Town Council in Bengeo ward. Veronica has been involved in Bengeo’s Neighbourhood Plan and in the campaign to acquire Beane Road Marsh for community enjoyment. She also volunteers as Chair of her GP Participation Group.
Veronica said, “I believe strongly in local government, in ensuring that council services are of a high quality and offer both value for money and a clear benefit for the town. I believe in actively seeking the views of those I represent and I look forward to working hard for our town.”
